KARTONG FESTIVAL : 24 - 31 March 2007
The Kartong Festival takes place just south along the beach from Mango Groves and The Plantations in Gunjur. The villagers of Kartong welcome visitors to share the beauty of their village and their music.
Over 30 groups from The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, the UK and Europe perform traditional music and dance throughout the week long celebrations at many locations in and around the village. In addition to the music there will be art exhibitions at the Lemon Fish Art Gallery, workshops to explore the cultural richness of the area and visits to local places of interest such as The Folonko Sacred Crocodile Pool and Museum.
